2007 training courses

Five BECTU BBC Branch Officers' training courses have been organised for 2007.

Both new and established Branch Committee members in the BBC should benefit from the introductory courses if they have received no previous union training.

The courses last three days each, and include the following:

  • The role of the Accredited Representative
  • Facilities and time off: the BBC Agreement
  • Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures
  • Dealing with Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures
  • Negotiating in the BBC
  • Negotiating in the BBC: local negotiations
  • Branch organisation and recruitment
  • Branch organisation – involving members
The courses will be held at BECTU Head Office in London, and will run 0930 to 1630 each day. The courses will be held on:
  • 6-8 February 2007
  • 15-17 May 2007
  • 19-21 June 2007
  • 2-4 October 2007
  • 27-29 November 2007
Travel and accommodation expenses will be paid for by BECTU.

The courses are designed for BECTU Branch Representatives in the BBC, and paid time off is available. Individual time off requests will need to be arranged direct with the applicant's management - if there are any difficulties refer to BECTU Head Office.
