Training outsourcing petition
Bredon Wing at BBC Engineering Training, Wood Norton.
A petition is being run on the proposed privatisation of BBC Engineering Training.
The petition, organised by Wood Norton BECTU Rep Kevin Doig, follows the BBC asking Capita for more details than was in their original bid to take over Engineering Training.
This led to the lead article in last week's Ariel, the BBC's in house newspaper, headlined 'Engineers urge outsourcing rethink'.
The petition, to be sent to BBC Director General Mark Thompson, asks those responding to select one of the following:
- I do not believe outsourcing Engineering Training is in the interest of the BBC or the wider broadcast community.
- I believe outsourcing Engineering Training is in the interest of the BBC or the wider broadcast community.
- I have no opinion on the outsourcing of Engineering Training.
Kevin is collecting the responses which should be sent to kevin.doig@bbc.co.uk
He's been invited to a "Meet the DG" session on 24 March where he intends to take along the responses received on outsourcing Training - therefore all contributions should be sent by lunchtime on 23 March.
For more details see Kevin's posting on bectuforum.org.uk
