Red Bee flies into rota storm

Red Bee Media, previously BBC Broadcast, could be facing its first serious dispute since the company was sold to Macquarie last year.

Management plans to introduce new rotas for staff working in the TV playout area at its White City HQ have been rejected by BECTU.

The proposed new rota cuts down on the need for late night and early morning transport, but involves an increase in the duration of regular night shifts to 10 hours, which the unions says raises health and safety issues, and undermines the company's commitment to work/life balance.

Management are due to meet the union early this month to try and resolve the impasse.
