Additional leave victory

The BBC have conceded that staff moving from full-time to part-time working should not lose any additional leave.

A number of BECTU members who had worked full-time and accumulated additional leave (previously know as Long Service Leave) had been penalised on moving to part-time working.

The problem arose when the BBC had unilaterally reduced the leave already earned to match the new part-time hours.

As a result of BECTU raising the issue, the BBC now accepts that this cannot be right and says that when someone moves from full-time working the leave accumulated should be converted to hours.

This will allow the individual to keep the hours already earned whilst working full-time and continue to accumulate additional leave as a part-time worker.

If have moved to part-time working and have experienced problems over their additional leave, then they should contact their local BECTU Branch.
