BBC support petition

BECTU and the NUJ are circulating a petition to support the BBC against the current background of political and commercial pressure.

Both unions believe the BBC is facing a threat to the range of programmes it makes, as well as its role as the major public service broadcaster.

BECTU and NUJ members are encouraged to circulate the petition form as widely as possible, which, when complete, will be presented to the Department of Culture Media and Sport, which is undertaking the Review of the BBC Charter.

The closing date for completed forms, at either BECTU or NUJ Head Office, is 30 December 2004.
