Production plan accepted

BECTU members in production departments have accepted new job descriptions.

In the second postal ballot on new job descriptions and grades in the Corporation's Production Divisions 83% of members voting accepted revised proposals.

In an earlier ballot 56% of participants voted against to reject the BBC's Production Modernisation programme.

The union then negotiated a number of improvements to take account of staff concerns about the creation of new streamlined job families, where many grades are compressed together.

Under the plan more than 80 existing job descriptions will be compressed into just four job families, comprising 13 new roles spanning several grades.

The ballot was held amongst BECTU members in Production Divisions, including DEC (Drama, Entertainment and Childrens), F&L (Factual and Learning), Sport, Radio and Music, and parts of News.
