Costume cuts

Four post cuts have taken place at Costume and Wig Store in West London.

Management tabled plans to shut the workroom, where costumes are altered and repaired, as well as new costumes created, on the grounds that the section was not covering its costs.

Staff were told that their work could be done cheaply by outworkers and casuals, and union efforts to agree a counter-proposal keeping two posts open were not successful.

However management agreed to extend termination dates for some staff, and one new post was ring-fenced as a possible resettlement opportunity.

Costume and Wig Store is involved in hiring costumes to productions, both BBC and external, and is part of Resources Ltd.
