Premises staff stay in BBC

Plans to transfer regional premises staff to LST will not be going ahead.

This follows a campaign by BECTU opposing proposals to transfer buildings and premises staff in BBC Nations and Regions to LST (Land Securities Trillium).

Recently a petition, organised by the union and signed by more than 1200 staff against the handover to LST, was presented to DG Greg Dyke.

Corporation management have said that 'after careful consideration the Nations and Regions direction board decided not to proceed with the transfer at this time'.

The board had considered proposals for more than 200 BBC properties, along with the implications on developments at new locations over the next 30 years.

Services which could have transferred to LST under the proposals included catering, cleaning, security, building maintenance, and project departments.
