Chargecard commitment

Promises have been won on the use of BBC Chargecards.

Unions have won a promise that new BBC chargecards will not affect individuals' credit ratings, even if payments are missed.

The BBC will also accept responsibility for interest charges and penalties imposed by the card company on staff, if the fault for late payment is slow processing of expenses.

However, financial responsibility for the cards will, controversially, remain with the individual, pending a review of card provision at the BBC being carried out by the Finance Division.

BECTU raised the issue of chargecards after many complaints from members that they were being asked to gamble their own finances on BBC business.
