Proposed Bush merger

It is proposed the two BECTU Bush House Branches amalgamate.

The Bush 1 branch of BECTU, which covers World Service, World Service News Programmes and various ancillary services, has been offered a merger with Bush 2 branch.

Lay Official Tim Warburton writes: "It has always been difficult to expect language service producers to take up union duties. The branch has now reached a position where it is almost totally dependent on the lay official for its management.

"A merger with Bush 2, which represents technical staff and studio managers, would solve the administrative problems and give members more points of contact within Bush House."

Members are invited to send their views on the proposed merger to Tim Warburton.

If no objections are received, the proposed merger will be put to the union's governing body for approval by the end of the year.
