Riots concern

Following recent riots concerns about hazardous situations have been raised.

Concerns have been expressed at recent cluster meetings that local staff might be placed in hazardous situations without proper training.

The matter was raised following the Oldham riots when Network "bought out" local staff for greater coverage.

Members are reminded that they have the right to withdraw from any situation they feel might be a danger to their health and safety.

Managers are now considering whether some local staff should receive the appropriate training so that they could respond to future hazardous situations.
