London Online proposals

Staffing for the London Online service have been proposed.

The proposal will involve drawing upon effort from up to five BJ/BA jobs led by an SBJ. It is proposed to maximise the opportunity of current Production Services England staff to have access to these or similar roles.

All Elstree PSE staff will be asked if they have an interest in developing journalistic skills with a view to working in the new unit or in the newsroom generally.

Those interested will be given a two-week familiarisation attachment with an opportunity for longer training for those with a continuing interest. The BJ/BA jobs will be filled, where possible, on an attachment/fixed term basis. This will give Elstree PSE staff a better opportunity to compete for these roles.

In any event, three of the five jobs will be earmarked for current PSE staff who are interested and meet the job requirements.

If some of the jobs with online focus are filled from Elstree of GLR journalists, this will provide further opportunities for Elstree PSE staff. There will also be specific training attachment opportunities in the online area targeted towards Elstree PSE staff.
